What to Expect

WHEN YOU VISIT US YOU WILL FIND…

  • A family of warm and friendly people who are simply Christians, i.e. believers who have been baptized into Jesus Christ for the remission of sins (Acts 2:38), who are committed to living by faith in Christ (Galatians 2:20), seeking always to be pleasing to Him as our head (Ephesians 1:22), and who are interested in your well-being.
  • A Bible study program for all age groups.  Bible classes for all age groups are conducted on Sunday mornings at 9:00 am and on Wednesday evenings at 7:00 pm.
  • A worship service that is simple in format as was true in New Testament days.  Worshippers are encouraged to worship God in acts of worship that are from the heart and according to the truth (John 4:24).  There is congregational singing (Colossians 3:16), communing with the Lord in His supper every first day of the week (I Corinthians 11:23-29; Acts 20:7) and giving, on the first day of the week, of one’s means according to his prosperity and as he has purposed in his heart (II Corinthians 9:6-7).
  • Bible centered preaching.  We believe in book, chapter and verse preaching in support of the advancement of truth.
  • A family at work.  We are involved in teaching the gospel of Christ to those in our own community and around the world.  We support a full time minister and youth minister to facilitate our efforts to teach the good news of Jesus Christ in our own community. In addition, we have a director of children's ministry on our staff. We also provide support to a number of missionaries who are involved in spreading the gospel to the whole world (Matthew 28:18-20).  We are also involved in works throughout our community through our Jail/Recovery Ministry and our Benevolence House.
  • An active prayer ministry.  We strongly believe in the power of prayer and use the opportunity of our assemblies to share our prayers and our prayer needs.  When special prayer needs arise, the request for prayers is communicated throughout the congregation by phone calls and e-mail.  We also have a prayer group called “Chain Reaction” that meets at 8:00 am each Sunday morning for a period of prayer.  Occasionally, one of our worship assemblies will be dedicated entirely to prayer to address special needs.
  • A locally autonomous body overseen by elders (bishops) and served by deacons (I Timothy 3:1-11; Titus 1:5-9; Acts 14:23).  Since Christ is our only head (Ephesians 1:22-23), we are part of no larger organization.  Thus, we have neither earthly head nor headquarters and are joined to other congregations only by the bond of love.
  • A wholesome respect for the inspired word of God and the conviction that the Bible is the sole and complete authority in the religion of Christ (I Peter 4:11).  We accept the word of God as an all-sufficient rule of faith and practice.

If you have any questions about the church of Christ, please do not hesitate to ask. Our goal is not only to follow God’s Word but to help others follow it as well. Let’s help each other get to heaven.
